Out under summer sky, the Cygnus constellation spreads its wings high overhead and nestled near the Swan’s graceful neck lies SH2-112 — a subtle, rose‑petaled bloom in a sea of stars. Through the eyepiece it’s invisible, but with my Stellarvue SVX102T‑R refractor and a set of SHO filters, it came alive in the camera as a tapestry of golds, teals, and deep rusts.
This little patch of ionized gas is a reminder that Cygnus isn’t just home to big-ticket targets — it’s peppered with subtle treasures waiting for anyone who’s willing to dig deep into the photons. It may not command attention at first glance, but in the right light — and with a bit of love — SH2-112 can hold its own among the Swan’s brightest jewels.
