Horsehead (IC434) and Flame (NGC2024) Nebulas

About This Photograph

This is one of my favorite imaging targets. These emission nebulas come alive in beautiful red and amber colors when the nearby white-hot stars ionize the hydrogen gasses in the region. Dark inert gases silhouette the nebulas, giving them their iconic structures.
