Messier 15 (M15) is a dense and ancient globular star cluster located in the constellation Pegasus. It is about 35,000 light-years away from Earth. M15 is one of the oldest known star clusters, estimated to be around 12 billion years old. Its tightly packed core contains hundreds of thousands of stars, making it one of the densest globular clusters. The cluster is easily visible through small telescopes and appears as a fuzzy ball of light. M15's central region exhibits a distinctive concentration of stars, forming a bright core. It has been extensively studied due to its advanced age, providing insights into stellar evolution and the early stages of the universe. M15 also hosts a high number of variable stars, including RR Lyrae variables, which have aided in distance measurements and understanding the cluster's properties. Its location and unique characteristics make Messier 15 an intriguing target for astronomers studying the dynamics and structure of globular clusters, as well as the broader field of stellar astronomy.
